"Soul Eater" is like the other books in the series. After a while, you'll see there are some elements Paver re-creates during every book.
Torak and Renn have to travel (all by their own) to a foreign land, where they have to fight at least one Soul Eater. Also, in each book Torak and Renn have a fight, after which they go their own ways - only to be reunited again and asking to forgive each other.
[SPOILER AHEAD] Thirdly, some people might have noticed that the title of the book always has something to do with who Torak is/what he becomes...
