Risingshadow has the honour of publishing a guest post by Lorraine Carey. (This guest post has been written in third person.)
Information about Lorraine Carey in her own words:
"I am a veteran Children’s Reading Specialist, teacher, book reviewer and author.
Having taught in several states has given me a vast background knowledge of different cultures and teaching modalities. I have taught in Ohio, Arizona, New Mexico, California and currently Grand Cayman.
After years of reading with children and knowing what they crave gave me the inspiration to write for them. I wanted to inspire middle grades through high school and beyond.
I have loved ghost stories since I was a child and with that was my inspiration to write Paranormal and Mystery stories.
Currently, I am living on Grand Cayman with my husband and our dog, Matty. When I am not writing, you can find me reading, beach hopping, and boating around this beautiful island on our boat, The Angelica."

GUEST POST by Lorraine Carey
Lorraine Carey is a veteran children's reading specialist, teacher and an International Award-Winning Author. She has taught in many states in the US and provided reading services for students at a private school on Grand Cayman, where she lives with her husband. Six years ago she was a city gal, living in Orange County, California, where life was very different from the one she lives now. Trading in her fashionable heels for flip-flops was quite a change, but led to a lifestyle that allowed for a writing career to flourish.
Her love for paranormal stories and urban legends began at a young age, when staying up all night to watch spooky movies or reading a scary book started a lifelong passion.
Being an empath and intuitive has helped her create organic content for her fiction novels. Many of her stories reflect her own personal experiences, odd as it may be.
She has been featured on several radio shows speaking about the paranormal events in her life, past and present.
Published novels include: Losing Ground, a short memoir, followed by Mysteries of the Red Coyote Inn, Out of the Ashes, Jonathan's Locket and The Last Vestal Virgin. All of these novels are paranormal with a mix of historical fiction, woven with urban legends. Beloved Sacrifice is a Supernatural Thriller for Young Adults to Adults. A Rock Star Reader by Kindergarten is a self-help guide for parents on creating a successful reader and lifelong lover of literacy.
Mysteries of the Red Coyote Inn was an Amazon Best Seller and Jonathan’s Locket is a Silver Award winner from Readers Favorite and also a finalist in the Wind Dance Film Contest for 2014. Her books all rate in a five star review range.
Her most recent work is The Good Teacher, which is book 1 in the series, Women of the Willow Wood. This series is in the occult and suspense genre. It has been receiving five-star reviews thus far.
Both the Last Vestal Virgin and Beloved Sacrifice reflect paranormal experiences that Lorraine has encountered and are woven within both stories. It is not uncommon for her to have assistance from automatic writing and odd occurrences prior to writing and during her projects.
While in Italy visiting a local village where her ancestors lived she was accidentally locked in a cemetery and also a local restaurant restroom. While hiking one morning with her husband, they both had an encounter with wolves, church bells ringing and the sudden appearance of a small grotto to Our Lady tucked away in the hillside all at the same time. Both her and her husband agreed Lorraine’s ancestors wanted her to stay and tell their story.
During her trip to Pompeii while researching Rome’s Vestal Virgin Cult for her book The Last Vestal Virgin she received a jolting shock while touching an ancient pedestal in one on the remains in the ruins of a Vestal Home.
When not writing you can find Lorraine reading, beach-hopping, snorkeling, or boating around the island with her husband on their boat, the Angelica.

She will be featured on Over the Rainbow Show April 27 at 4 p.m. Eastern Time.
