Cristobel
Deserted by his mother, JC spends his school holidays at her old family home - a tropical estate named Christobel. There too is his brother August, his stepfather Marcus and Marcus's new wife Justine.
Upon arriving at Christobel, Justine suffers from a strange distress, driven to attempt suicide. Marcus fears for her sanity and turns to his psychologist brother Stefan, for help. Stefan Leyland is not convinced that Justine is mad - her anguish and JC's terror hold similar elements. Can it be that someone is deliberately trying to hurt them?
Then there's Remus, the local boy who bears a grudge, and Amalie, JC's Haitian nurse, rumoured to be a voodoo witch, and the strange presence of the ghostly woman in white.
