Enter the land of Forgotten Realms and visit the kingdom of Moonshae, where a bitter struggle is about to ensue. A deep, dark hole is eating away at the spring sunlight, sapping its strength. The portents are not good.

The evil beast is growing stronger by the day, and its followers, the Firbolg, are craving the sight of blood.

To halt the spread of darkness, Prince Tristan must rally the citizens of Moonshae: the Goddess must send her most powerful children - and even then she may not be able to restore peace to the folk of Moonshae...

How this book came to be: http://www.candlekeep.com/library/lore.htm An average first entry into the outskirts of the Realms, the Moonshae Isles. Kazgaroth is a decent enough villain. A lizard like monster that is driven to destroy the lesser deity of the Moonshae and turn this chain of islands to a chaotic evil theme park. The monster stats on this guy must be pretty insane. Shape change at will. Giant bull, hot chick, dryad oh my! Lycanthropy with a kiss or he can corrupt your soul, turning you into a "ghoulish type" creature or just a devoted follower. He also can feed on your life force and take over your identity for long periods of time. Firbolgs are boring. Bearded dwarven women are also boring. Newt is annoying but what can I say? I like the token inquisitive(annoying)faerie dragon in my Forgotten Realms books. Leviathan was cool, though he didn't last long. The idea of the pack as a last hope weapon and Canthus usurping the werewolf to turn the tide of battle was fun too. Unicorns are lame no matter how majestic they are written to be. Sorry Kamerynn, you did get your a@@ handed to you in this book. What with the toxic burns and blindness and all that. Final Thoughts Moonshae Trilogy Book One Drinking Game! Take a shot every time you see the word spoor/s in this book.
