Abaddon publishes trio of new authors discovered in 2015 Open Submissions month
Novellas by Cassandra Khaw, Colin Sinclair and Paul Starkey coming in 2015
At the beginning of 2015, Abaddon announced an Open Submissions month. The response was immediate and overwhelming, with hundreds of writers sending in their work. Now, the bleeding-edge pulp fiction publisher is about to publish novellas from three of those writers:
Rupert Wong: Cannibal Chef by Cassandra Khaw;
Midnight In The Garden Centre Of Good And Evil by Colin Sinclair; and
The Lazarus Conundrum by Paul Starkey.
Abaddon Commissioning Editor David Thomas Moore said:
“In January this year, as part of our ongoing tenth-anniversary celebrations, Abaddon Books held our second Open Submissions Month, announcing that we were looking for both new worlds and new pitches for our existing worlds. The response was terrific, and the quality of submissions was even higher than in 2012. Sorting through them was a challenging task, and rejecting some of the proposals was heart-breaking; after one round of cuts, the first “short list” consisted of fully two thirds of the initial submissions! Eventually, I came up with three winners: two fantastic additions to our older series and a new series rich with potential.”
