Alice in Wonderland Paintings 2018 Wall Calendar
by Frances Broomfield
It's been more than one hundred and fifty years since author Lewis Carroll sent Alice after the White Rabbit. And though artists the world over have long depicted their own versions of this classic tale, Frances Broomfield's paintings achieve a rare feat in making Alice's world all the more magical. Broomfield (b. 1951) is attracted to the eccentric in her art, creating paintings focused on fables, myths, and children's stories. The paintings shown here represent her visions of Alice's world in Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass (1872).
