Forgotten Realms
Forgotten Realms is a fictional campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) tabletop role-playing game. It was created by author and game designer Ed Greenwood in the 1960s and 70s, and was first published by TSR, Inc. in 1987.
The Forgotten Realms setting is a high fantasy world with a rich history and mythology. It is home to many different races, including humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, and many others. The world is divided into many different regions, each with its own unique geography, culture, and history. The setting has been expanded upon over the years through various sourcebooks, novels, and other media.
In literature, the Forgotten Realms setting has been the setting for numerous novels and short stories, written by various authors. These stories often focus on a particular character or group of characters, and are set within the larger context of the world of the Forgotten Realms. The stories often involve quests, battles, magic, and other elements common to the fantasy genre. Some of the most popular authors who have written stories set in the Forgotten Realms include R.A. Salvatore, Elaine Cunningham, and Ed Greenwood himself.
