
John Carter and the Giant of Mars was first published in Amazing Stories (January 1941). Skeleton Men of Jupiter was first published in Amazing Stories (February 1943). The first hardcover edition was published by Canaveral Press, July 24, 1964. The dust jacket, endpapers and eight interiors were done by Reed Crandall.
The last book in the John Carter of Mars series comprises two novellas, one written by John Coleman Burroughs, in which John is captured by the synthetic man, Pew Mogel, bent on conquering Mars – the second, first in a projected but unfinished series of novellas, in which John is captured by the Morgors of the Planet Jupiter.
