Nell leaves home for the first time in her life to stay with her relations she barely knows, and finds herself travelling further than she imagined.
She is taken to a mysterious island where she meets a homesick ghost and his grandson, Dylan, the swimmer. But strangest of all is the lame owner of the island, Mr Zed, who has built a pillar of stars that call to Nell in the sad and sometimes frantic whispers.
The long-awaiting sequel to Ultramarine, which was acclaimed as ‘A rich and magical book with a strong emotional resonance.’ (Books For Your Children)
