Clockwork Angels is a project like no other and, for fans of Rush, is the equivalent of someone writing a companion novel to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at the same time it was released. Bestselling sci-fi novelist Kevin J. Anderson, whose has written Star Wars and X-Files books, here turns an awesome musical adventure into an epic steampunk tale. The story centres around a young man's quest to follow his dreams. He is caught between the grandiose forces of order and chaos in a tale of lost cities, pirates, anarchists, carnivals and a rigid watchmaker.

The book expands on the album, the imagery is fantastic and it is complemented by some great artwork but it is let down by a simplistic writing style making it more suitable for a juvenile audience, overall it was a great disappointment.
