Blood of Assassins is the epic sequel to RJ Barker's debut Age of Assassins, set in a world ravaged by magic, featuring a cast of assassins, knights, ambitious noblemen, and fools for fans of Brent Weeks and Robin Hobb.
In a world scarred by magic and the ambitions of powerful men, Girton Club-foot must face his greatest challenge yet - and there will be blood to pay.
After five long years away, hiding in the guise of a mercenary, Girton and his master have returned to Maniyadoc and the Long Tides in hope of finding sanctuary in the court of his friend, King Rufra.
But there is to be no rest and death, as always, dogs Girton's heels.
The place he knew no longer exists. War rages across Maniyadoc, intrigue creates sinister shadows in which true intentions are hidden and distrust is everywhere. Girton finds himself hurrying to uncover a plot to murder King Rufra on, what should be, the day of the king's greatest victory.
But while Girton is faced with threats from outside, perhaps his greatest enemy hides beneath his own skin.
RJ Barker lives in Leeds with his wife, son and a collection of questionable taxidermy, odd art, scary music and more books than they have room for. He grew up reading whatever he could get his hands on, and has always been 'that one with the book in his pocket'. Having played in a rock band before deciding he was a rubbish musician, RJ returned to his first love, fiction, to find he is rather better at that. As well as his debut epic fantasy novel, Age of Assassins, RJ has written short stories and historical scripts which have been performed across the country. He has the sort of flowing locks any cavalier would be proud of.
