The Flame Knife is a 1955 fantasy novella, but it was published in 1981 (paperback edition). It was previously published in two short story collections: Tales of Conan (Gnome Press, 1955) and Conan the Wanderer (Lancer Books, 1968).
His life imperiled by the mistrust of a mad King, a haunted by the armies of every nation of the Hyborian Age, the mighty Cimmerian, Conan, in the small band of loyal followers flee to the grim Hayek's of the unmapped Ilbars Mountains, in search of a stronghold that they can make their own. Robert Ervin Howard (1906–1936) was an American author. He who wrote pulp fiction in a diverse range of genres. His most famous character is Conan the Barbarian. With Conan and his other heroes Howard created the genre now known as "sword and sorcery" in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
