“There is a manuscript you need to copy for me.”
“I’m busy right now.”
“It’s in Houston. Didn’t you just move there?”
“I didn’t move here so I could copy manuscripts for you.”
“How do you know? Maybe that’s exactly why you moved there.”

A phone call from an old friend sets Dr. Giovanni Vecchio back on the path of a mystery he’d abandoned years before.  He never expected a young librarian could hold the key to the search, nor could he have expected the danger she would attract.  Now he and Beatrice de Novo will follow a twisted maze that leads them from the archives of a university library, through the fires of Renaissance Florence, and toward aconfrontation they never could have predicted.

Elizabeth Hunter

Elizabeth Hunter

Elizabeth Hunter is a contemporary fantasy, paranormal romance, and contemporary romance writer. She is a graduate of the University of Houston Honors College and a former English teacher. She once substitute taught a kindergarten class, but decided that middle school was far less frightening. Thankfully, people now pay her to write books and eighth-graders everywhere rejoice.

She currently lives in Central California with an eight-year-old ninja who claims to be her child.  She enjoys music, writing, travel, and bowling (despite the fact that she's not very good at it). Someday, she plans to learn how to scuba dive. And maybe hang glide... but that looks like a lot of running.

She is the author of the Elemental Mysteries and Elemental World series, the Cambio Springs series, the upcoming Irin Chronicles, and other works of fiction.

"Where did you get the inspiration for The Elemental Mysteries?"

- This is a really common question with no clear answer except my overactive imagination. In a more general sense, I usually start with characters first. That is, characters come to my fevered brain, and the plots to my books usually follow that, not the other way round. So, I guess you could say that the Elemental Mysteries are inspired by the character of Giovanni Vecchio.

How many books will there be in the series?

- Gio and Beatrice’s story will be told in four books, but they do show up in others. Their series is finished, but I will continue to write in the Elemental World as long as it’s fun. Building From Ashes (Carwyn and Brigid’s story) is already out. I’m writing Blood and Sand right now, which features Baojia. Waterlocked is an Elemental World novella originally published here on the site, and it’s available in stores now. I’m going to branch out with my Cambio Springs series and a few other ideas, but Idon’t foresee abandoning this world anytime soon."

Elemental Mysteries consists of four books. The current recommended reading order for the series is provided below.

Wow. I love this. A Hidden Fire is an interesting mystery, a fascinating story and a book that I'm enormously happy belongs to a series. It promises a lot, delivers most of what it promises and the rest of it... well, just read the next ones!
