Buddy Flick Epic Fantasy for Busy People by Gail Z. Martin

I grew up watching buddy flick movies and TV shows—Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the Lethal Weapon series, Starsky & Hutch, Men In Black and so many more. They promised pure escapism, plenty of action and explosions, lost of snark, and two best friends against the world.

Which made me wonder...what would a ‘buddy flick’ epic fantasy look like? Big stakes, impossible odds, sarcastic heroes bucking the rules, wicked fight scenes and two heroes who have each other’s backs. The result is the new Assassins of Landria series, which starts with Assassin’s Honor, and its coming-soon sequel, Sellsword’s Oath.

If Butch and Sundance were medieval assassins, they’d be like Ridge and Rett, the heroes in Assassin’s Honor.

Friends since their orphanage childhood, Joel “Ridge” Breckinridge and Garrett “Rett” Kennard rose through the ranks of the Landrian army together, from teenaged conscripts to seasoned fighters. Together, they became the most feared team of assassins in Landria, surviving longer that most in their profession by virtue of excellent fighting skills, legendary bravado, peerless strategy, and an uncanny synchronicity. Henri, their long-suffering squire, tends to the thankless jobs of provisioning and logistics, while Ridge and Rett fight and recover.

When wandering mystic Yefim Makary becomes the darling of disenchanted aristocrats, Rett and Ridge fear Makary—or the Witch Lord, as his followers call him—is a threat to the crown. As treasonous whispers spread, Ridge and Rett go rogue to stop the threat, save the kingdom and protect the king—while landing on the “Most Wanted” list themselves.

Assassin’s Honor is a fun, fast-paced mix of snark and suspense. It’s also a shorter read than most epic fantasies, designed for people who want the epic feel without the epic length. If you’ve put off delving into a new medieval saga because you’re short on time, this could become your new favorite fantasy fix.

Assassin’s Honor is available in paperback, ebooks including Kindle, Kobo, iBooks and Nook, and Audible audio. The next book, Sellsword’s Oath, will be out later this summer. Sign on with Ridge and Rett for the adventure of a lifetime!
