From Man to Man is an interesting introduction and teaser to D.E.M. Emrys' Wroge Elements fantasy series.
From Man to Man is simple, but effective story. The author has written an interesting story, which is fast to read and easy to enjoy. This story can be recommended to readers who like medieval epic fantasy.
This short story introduces the character of Draven to readers. Draven is a man who's trying to forget his past as a mercenary, but it isn't easy for him, because his old life haunts him. He tries to live as a villager, but the memories of his past are brought back to life when Draven meets a stranger who has a job for him.
Draven seems to be an interesting character who has to struggle with his past and make difficult choices. His characters seems to have quite a lot of depth to him, which is good, because it's interesting to read about realistic and three-dimensional characters.
I'm not sure how the author writes about Draven's life in the Wroge Elements series, but based on this short story it's possible to say that D.E.M. Emrys may be able to deliver a satisfying, realistic and brutal fantasy story for adults.
In my opinion D.E.M. Emrys has potential to become a successful fantasy author, because he shows talent for storytelling.
