Halcyon
Halcyon is the island answer for all Americans who want to escape the dismal state of the US, but paradise isn't what it seems.
Halcyon: a beautiful island in the middle of Lake Ontario — a self-sustaining community made up of disillusioned Americans looking to live without fear, crime, or greed. It is run by Valerie Kemp, aka Mother Moon, benevolent and altruistic on the outside, but hiding a terrible darkness inside. She is using the weak-willed islanders — manipulating them — for her own cruel purposes. Mother Moon believes in and has dedicated her life to the pursuit of Glam Moon, a paradise-like dimension, a place of eternal beauty and healing. And she believes the pathway to Glam Moon can be found at the end of pleasure.
After his wife is killed in a school shooting, Martin Lovegrove moves himself and his two young daughters to Halcyon. A couple of months, he tells himself, to retreat from the chaos and grind, and to rediscover core American values: family, community, hope. However, Martin soon begins to suspect there is something beneath Halcyon’s perfect veneer, and sets out to investigate Halcyon and its founder, Mother Moon... and in so doing uncovers a truth more terrible than anything he could have imagined.
