The Monstrous Regiment

Storm Constantine

Corinna lives in the marshes of Artemis, a planet colonized several hundred years ago. The original colonists were feminists and their male supporters, fleeing the oppression of patriarchal humanity. But militants have forced the pendulum to swing too far in the other direction: in the city of Silven Crescent, all commerce between men and women is frowned upon, and affairs are worsening. In the marshes, more normal relationships occur – but for how long?

Corinna is fated to be at the centre of a revolutionary movement created by Elvon L'Belder, who briefly becomes her lover. Sent to the city under the patronage of General Carmenya Oralien, she sees affairs move swiftly to a head, and can only hope for the return, somehow, of Elvon.

Original, quirky, and compassionate, The Monstrous Regiment is the latest novel from Storm Constantine, highly acclaimed author of the Wraeththu trilogy. It will enhance the reputation of speculative fiction's fastest-rising star.
