Dead Witch Walking
All the creatures of the night gather in "the Hollows" of Cincinnati, to hide, to prowl, to party... and to feed.
Vampires rule the darkness in a predator-eat-predator world rife with dangers beyond imagining – and it’s Rachel Morgan's job to keep that world civilized.
A bounty hunter and witch with serious sex appeal and an attitude, she'll bring 'em back alive, dead... or undead.

The Hollows
The Hollows series (also called the Rachel Morgan series) is a series of eleven mystery novels, six short stories, one graphic novel, and one compendium resource by Kim Harrison, published by HarperCollins Publishers, in an urban fantasy alternate history universe and set primarily in the city of Cincinnati and its suburbs.
The alternate history is built upon two premises: the recent open existence of magical and supernatural species, primarily witches, vampires, and werewolves, with the human population; and the historical investment of Cold War military spending in genetic engineering as opposed to the Space Race, which resulted in the accidental release of a virus via a genetically modified tomato in the 1960s that killed a significant portion of the human population. The series is set approximately forty years after this plague, referred to as 'The Turn' within the series.
The Hollows consists of seventeen primary books, and includes two additional books that complement the series but are not considered mandatory reads, and the series is set to expand with the upcoming release of one more book. The current recommended reading order for the series is provided below.
Book Reviews
Action backed book of witch in world with alternative history. Urban story of trying to get away from hitmen hired by your former employee. Quite ok concept, but I was constantly reminded of Butcher's Dresden files. The main elements were so similar that most of the time this only felt like female version of the wizard Dresden.
