Jax and crew have just landed on Ithiss-Tor. News of her exploits have reached the planet – and become exaggerated – so she's credited with all manner of things: some true, some slightly true, and some, not even close. This misconception offers her some maneuvering room, however, as the Ithtorians believe that a person of some consequence has been deployed to speak with them.

If she doesn't want to see the humanity plunged into the bloodiest fight for survival yet, she needs to comport herself as every inch the diplomat. For Jax, that's problematic. She also has to deal with conflicting loyalties, intrigue and skulduggery. Certain factions are betting on her to fail. On Ithiss-Tor, how can she know who to trust?
