Tongues of Fire and Other Sketches
Blackwood was born in Kent, but spent many years of his life in Canada, then America before he eventually moved back to England. During his childhood he spent some time in the Black Forest of Germany, an experience that he felt greatly later in his life. The "sketches" here are short stories of mystery and the unknown, displaying Blackwood's fertile imagination.
