Korigan, a young student in the School of Magic, is called away from his studies to take on a very adult task. He must accompany his uncle on a hunt for a unicorn, for only its curative powers can save his mother's life.

Together with his mystical cat, Percival, and his falcon hunting companion, Starhawk, Korigan accepts his quest and begins a journey in which he will leave the cares of youth behind to face the demands of life and death.
