At an American Booksellers Association meeting in Las Vegas, public relations expert Temple Barr and feline detective Midnight Louie come face to face when a book publisher is discovered to have been dispatched with a knitting needle. It's up to Temple, who is still smarting from the recent disappearance of her magician lover, to dig up the motive for the murder – but no fear, for she's aided at crucial moments by the irrepressible Midnight Louie.
