The Berserker Throne

Fred Saberhagen

Berserkers. Ancient, legendary machines of death that anihilated their makers. Rogues loosed on the universe, they destroy life wherever they find it.

The Empress of the Eight Worlds has been assassinated, and Prince Harivarman, an unwilling exile, knows he will be next. Alone on the Radiant Templar, except for his servant, his girlfriend and his newly-arrived wife, he discovers a deactivated berserker – an operable one. He also finds an ancient berserker code. Can it be the one that controls the berserker? And dare he unleash it?
