House of Illusions

The sequel to House of Dreams takes us back to Aswat, where Thu, once the beloved concubine of Pharaoh, now tends the temple of Wepwawet and performs menial tasks for the priests. But as she serves out her sentence of exile, imposed for her attempted poisoning of Pharaoh, she writes the history of her former life. Her manuscript tells of those who trained her to be noticed by Pharaoh and conspired to use her as their assassin.

Having dreamed of revenge for so many years, Thu unexpectedly finds it within her grasp – but is it really what she wants after all?
