Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.

The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

Becca Fitzpatrick

Becca Fitzpatrick

Before fallen angels became a staple of young adult fiction, Becca Fitzpatrick carved out a space where danger and desire walked hand in hand—and where the line between good and evil was never quite clear. Her debut novel, Hush, Hush, didn’t just introduce readers to a world of dark secrets and supernatural allure—it sparked a global fandom that gravitated to the tension, mystery, and vulnerability at the heart of her storytelling.

Raised in the quiet town of North Platte, Nebraska, Fitzpatrick didn’t set out to write novels with wings and whispers of the forbidden. In fact, she studied health, not literature, and it wasn’t until she received a birthday gift—a writing class—that she found the courage to explore the stories that had been circling in her imagination. That decision changed everything.

Fitzpatrick’s writing is known for its moody, emotionally charged tone and morally gray characters—especially the ones who feel like they could save you or destroy you, depending on the chapter. Her work often explores themes of trust, identity, and the seductive pull of danger, all set against backdrops that blur reality and the otherworldly. Whether it's the Hush, Hush saga’s angelic underworld or the cold-blooded suspense of Dangerous Lies and Black Ice, Fitzpatrick has a way of making readers question not just who they can trust—but who they want to.

What makes her stories resonate isn’t just the paranormal thrill or the plot twists—it’s the emotional stakes. Her protagonists, often grappling with grief, betrayal, or uncertain futures, are never just swept up in romance or peril; they’re navigating real feelings in surreal worlds.

Though she’s a bestselling author with an international readership, Fitzpatrick remains deeply connected to the raw heart of storytelling. In interviews, she’s shared that her inspiration often comes from “the quiet moments,” and it shows—her books are just as much about adrenaline and longing as they are about self-discovery.

Today, she continues to write stories that balance pulse-pounding suspense with tender emotional arcs, crafting novels where shadows linger, kisses carry weight, and no secret stays buried for long.
