The God Stone

The idyllic lifestyle of Borin, a young farmer, is disrupted when he stumbles across a mysterious wizard. When seeking assistance from a travelling Merchant to help raise funds to support his father, Borin learns bad news about his and the farm's future. Deceived by the wizard Melchiot, forced into submission by the threat that an amulet he is unable to remove contains a deadly virus, Borin must complete a journey with several people who have together become entwined in the wizard s trap. The young farmer finds himself imprisoned in a make-shift coastal city where Thieves and Wizards live inharmoniously. Kidnapped and forced to fight to the death, he treks through magical mirrors to the furthest corners of Venta Belgarum; the State completely surrounded by living Mountains. Supported in his plight against the treacherous wizard by an army of thieves, Borin discovers that Melchiot has all along used him as a pawn and that he was meant to take the path of his famous grandfather who shared his name and his legend. The ultimate test comes when Borin comes face to face with the leader of the most insidious Cult ever seen, dedicated to the resurrection of the god of Revenge. Borin is brought into the fray as apart from having his grandfather s lineage, he possesses an important item unbeknownst to the leaders of the Cult which armed with a massive force of Thieves and Wizards, does its utmost to rid the world of the single threat to success one farmer and his entourage.
