Jack and Yssobel, the half human, the half mythago children of Steven Huxley and the legendary Celtic princess Guiwenneth of the Green, were born deep in Ryhope Wood – Mythago Wood. They live in a ruined Roman villa, surrounded by mystery.
Jack and Yssobel are close, but as they grow to adulthood, so Yssobel becomes infatuated with the very heart of the wood, which is known by many names: Lavondyss, Avalon... Avilion. Jack, however, longs to find the real world that is his father's heritage.
Then Yssobel disappears, and if he is to find her, Jack must make the long trek outwards, to the real world. For through the wildwood part of him, Jack has discovered that his sister is in great jeopardy – for her dream has turned against her...

Robert Paul Holdstock (1948–2009) was an English novelist and author best known for his works of Celtic, Nordic, Gothic and Pictish fantasy literature, predominantly in the fantasy subgenre of mythic fiction.
