Seminole Landing
The tale begins as the reader meets Cally Cummins, a young girl about to be out of school for summer break. On her summer break she, her brother Bud and her friends meet a boy named Jesse. Jesse is poor and lives with the mean town drunk, Jasper, as his father and a scared mother, AND he is stealing from Cally and her family. The Cummins family extends a generous offer to help Jesse. Over the summer Jesse becomes good friends with Cally and her friends. Legends of spirits and mediums occupy the overactive imaginations of the kids. One day Cally and Jesse are digging in a stump and discover a tin filled with mysterious things from the past, one of which is a locket with pictures of twin boys who look just like Jesse. They push their luck and try to see if one of the local Mediums can help them and are overwhelmed when they witness the materialization of a true evil spirit. The trek to find out about who Jesse really is and what his connection to the locket and tin are leads them to learn that Jesse’s real father was killed in the fire which was set by Jasper. Other people from his past, Little Deer, his Uncle Curtis, and the Seminole Spirits reunite he and his mother with their true heritage all the while exposing Jasper for the evil man he really is and giving Jesse and his mother back their lives.
