Crimson Night
It is bad enough she still tries for a normal mortal life, but is unable to cope with this vampiric pregnancy or being around Simon. Maggie O'Neal's only help can come from the masochistic animal that is the sire, Lord Simon Baldevar. He owns and has studied the ancient book, Infans Noctis, Nights Child, written by a Roman Senator. Maggie can only endure this pregnancy with his blood.
Simon had said he would not bother her; she would have to call for him. During a private attempted abortion, her mind screamed out to him. Simon was going to temp his Meghann back into his life, and into his desperately wanted child's.
As far as Maggie was concerned Simon was still the same evil, domineering fiend she'd been so right to run away from. But it wasn't fair, his face was so unmarked by time, the same dashing stranger that had captured her heart almost 60 years ago.
Could he change? Was she only seeing him thru her mentor, Alcuin's, eyes? Did she want to try to fall in love with Simon again – or did she ever stop? Could he be the father figure of her child?
