The Watchtower
Jewellery designer Garet James is struggling to come to terms with who – or what – she really is: a Watchtower, the last in a long line of women sworn to guard our world from evil. And she’s convinced she’s been sent a sign from Will Hughes, the alluring four-hundred-year-old vampire who tasted her blood, saved her life and helped her once before, only to vanish. She believes he’s fled to France in search of the elusive land of the Fey where, he once explained, he might rid himself of his vampire curse.
Desperate to understand her legacy and following her heart, Garet follows him. Her quest begins in Paris where encounters with strange, mythic figures – an ancient botanist metamorphosed into the city’s oldest tree, a gnome who dwells under the Labyrinth at the Jardin des Plantes, a dryad in the Luxembourg Gardens – convince her she is on the right path and catching up with Will.
But Garet is not the only one trying to find the way in to the Fey’s magic-bound Summer Country. And the answers she finds lead to more questions – and to dangers both mortal and immortal...
