Twisted Campfire Tales

by Michael Aronovitz
Twisted Campfire Tales by Michael Aronovitz
Unrated

A young man makes a wager with the Grim Reaper and puts his life up for grabs as the prize. Little does he know that the Reaper’s secret, two hour curse will pit him against the hardest decisions a man could possibly face. Should he let his wife die in the worst section of town? Should he risk getting lynched by his infuriated neighbors? Or should he sacrifice something for the sake of this deadly game, like maybe his left thumb?

An old professor named Melvin pirates a secret computer program that gives him the ability to mentally join another for five minutes. But what should he do when a bit of that person sticks with him like a mental parasite after the exit? And how will he manage his burning curiosity when he joins a man who dies during the union? Melvin witnesses two minutes of the hereafter. To what lengths will he go to observe a bit more?

A nameless one is told by his butler that he is the Antichrist. Slowly, the one with ungodly riches begins to question his own core of being. Why does he feel no remorse or compassion? Is apathy cruel? Is a state of calm, cool and collected in fact a sociopathic trait of evil? We must have a game. The winner is a sane man and the loser, The Unholy. Or is it the other way around?

Denny Sanborn wants to hear a story and his baby sitter gives him one to remember forever. What starts out as a slip-shod tale made up on the fly, becomes a deadly puzzle that uses Denny for bait. She never should have slammed the framed picture down on the desk, for the thing under glass is alive!

Not recommended for the faint hearted, this quartet of stories is built upon a framework of dark humor, terror and shock. Critics of gore, please walk away. The easily offended need not apply.
