Published during Frank Herbert’s lifetime with his full approval as “the complete authorized guide and companion to Frank Herbert's masterpiece of imagination”, there are however discrepancies between it and later books in the Dune sequence.

It has been declared non-cannon by the official Dune website and has effectively been supressed so is unlikely become available again due to copyright issues.
