About the book

Across the Dark Water

The exciting first book in a brand-new fantasy trilogy from the brilliant imagination behind the Guardian Herd series.

Deep in the jungles of the Realm, the Sandwen clan lives among deadly spit dragons, hordes of warring giants, and other perils. But with the help of their winged battle horses, they manage to keep their people safe from the giants. The Sandwens believe they have tamed and trained all the wild pegasi in their land. But when a herd of wild steeds flies over their village one day, Rahkki, a young stable groom for the Riders in the Sandwen army, and his clanmates are stunned. Who are these pegasi, and where have they come from?

Meanwhile, the small herd of pegasi have journeyed across a treacherous ocean to settle in a new, and free, land. Lead by Echofrost and Hazelwind, the Storm Herd steeds are unaware of the danger around them. And when the unthinkable happens, and Echofrost and a young Storm Herd mare named Shysong are captured, they quickly realize that they are still neither free nor safe.

As new conflicts brew between the Sandwens and the giants, Echofrost and Rahkki must learn to trust each other. If they can’t, both the Sandwens and the Storm Herd might not survive.
