Mombasa Madrigal and Other African Escapades

There is no story that is not true, [...] The world has no end, and what is good among one people is an abomination with others.
(Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe)

We proudly announce Rhys Hughes' first book for our Raphus Novellas label: MOMBASA MADRIGAL AND OTHER AFRICAN ESCAPADES, a collection with stories introduced by a exquisite title novelette, extremely clever and imaginativa – a strange kind of fusion, between fiction, essay and travelog.

One of the most extraordinary fabulists of our time, Rhys Hughes offers us in MOMBASA MADRIGAL an unique, exquisite creation – thoughtful, pulsating, intuitive. Something really new in the somewhat conventionalized universe of contemporary narratives. The short stories that close the book, in turn, complement and amplify such an impact.
