Hostile Takeover

On a stopover at Waysend station, Salome’s young crewman—who happens to be the crown prince of the planet Qwell—learns that homeworld is in chaos; his mother has betrayed the kingdom, a powerful corp is plotting a hostile takeover, and his cousins have been kidnapped.

With the Luminous Void still needing repairs, Salome reluctantly splits her crew, sending Callum, Skyler, and James to Qwell. It looks like Luminous Void will be fit for duty in a few days, but Salome soon realizes they have accidentally brought aboard a piece of living alien technology, and the artificial intelligences that run the station aren’t going to let them leave until they have turned it over.

Salome must negotiate with the station and get the alien power-generator under control before she can get to Qwell to support her crewmen, assuming she can fight her way through a blockade at the Qwell pinch point.
