When Crestfall’s ambassador to the curse-prone human kingdom Birney retires, Keola is the unlucky mermaid chosen to replace him. Her bad luck changes to disaster when she’s injured carrying an urgent message to her king. Her rescuer—a talking whale claiming to be a cursed prince—takes her to a feared enchantress to save her from her supposed curse of being half-fish.
Stuck with a doltish prince who might just be more than he seems, an urgent message, and no fins, Keola must join a hunt for a crystal ball to save not just her scales but both human and underwater kingdoms.
