Sakari has been thrust back into a world of hiding, lying, and spying all because her faerie friend confided in the wrong person. All she wants to do is keep herself and her grandmother alive and return to a more peaceful life, but the man she left many years ago has other plans.

Lord Amarok pretends to be a dandy of the most inane in order to throw off the leaders of a tyrannical kingdom. While everyone thinks he is a fool, he can easily sneak right past them with a sleigh full of the oppressed and set them free in the nearby kingdom. But now Amarok has a vexing issue - the woman who broke his heart is back and is becoming quite the distraction.
