The Bennet family anticipates the arrival of their cousin, a man whom they had never seen before. When he arrives a day early, he is nothing like they had imagined. To Lizzy’s dismay, Mrs. Bennet immediately begins her matchmaking schemes.
Lamenting the coming of the obnoxious cousin, she then meets Mr. Bingley’s newly arrived friend, Mr. Darcy. His arrival only adds to her misery. Her peace is cut up and they are to blame. Soon, however, she discovers that Mr. Darcy is so much better and Mr. Collins is so much worse!
Darcy reaches Netherfield and wonders what is amiss with the tone of this Hertfordshire neighborhood. As a boy, he discovered his talent to influence the emotions of others. Trained by Aunty—a gypsy-witch of some renown—Darcy recognizes that trouble lurks nearby. Trouble comes to him, too, in the form of a feisty lady named Elizabeth Bennet!
