Mardi Gras is in full swing, which means the French Quarter is bustling with activity and overflowing with people. Ofelia Archer has her hands full and doesn’t need anything extra on her plate.
Then the unthinkable happens.
When two people seek her out, tell her trouble is coming for her, and then kill themselves, she’s thrown. What could have caused this? Magic is obviously involved, but who is wielding it? More importantly, why are they attacking now?
All clues lead to an effervescent preacher in Jackson Square. She has people following her every word … and she seems to have an agenda. She also has a past in the city that goes back hundreds of years.
Who is she? What does she want? And why is Pascal, Ofelia’s favorite vampire, on top of the woman’s hit list?
Pascal has information, but he wants to handle the problem on his own. Ofelia isn’t keen to let that happen. He might be strong but this is the sort of magic that can destroy anyting and everyone.
