The Tired Mercenary Just Wants to Farm in Peace

Seneca Farm #1 / 2
by Wolfe Locke
The Tired Mercenary Just Wants to Farm in Peace (Seneca Farm #1) by Wolfe Locke
Unrated

The Silver Hands were one of the best mercenary companies in the kingdom. Now, only one remains. Kain Asheld buried the three people closest to him on a quiet ridge overlooking the valley where they promised to meet. He honors that memory with a deed to a farm, bought with his share of a final bounty and a desperate need for silence.

The dream of that new life requires more than just land. Locals call it Madder's Place. It is a disaster of rotting floorboards, collapsed roofs, and fields reclaimed by the wild.

The village needs him just as much as he needs the solitude. Support comes from unexpected places: a young collector named Oren, a sharp-tongued tavern owner named Sorrel, and a trust system that leaves payment in unlocked boxes by the road. As Kain clears the rot from his new home and tracks the wolves harassing the village, he discovers building a life takes its own kind of strength.

This is the story of starting over, and of moving on when you can't take the people you love with you.

Wolfe Locke

Wolfe Locke writes under a name that hints at myth and mystery, yet his stories are rooted in something far more grounded, an understanding of people, their struggles, and the ways they grow. Before turning to fiction full time, he served in the military, built a career as a social worker, and earned his MSW. Those experiences left their mark on his writing, giving his books an emotional core that balances the wild mechanics of LitRPG and GameLit worlds.

His journey into storytelling began much like the games that inspired him. Wolfe started by crafting guides for competitive League of Legends teams, then shifted into writing serial fiction for online platforms. Readers quickly discovered that he was not just building power systems or leveling frameworks, he was creating characters who feel alive, who wrestle with responsibility, connection, and resilience in the face of impossible odds.

Over the years, he has released dozens of novels across sprawling series such as Sowing Season and Genesis Game. Many of these works are co-written with Mike Caliban, another name well known in the genre. Together they developed a style that blends high-stakes adventure with quieter, human moments, a rare mix in LitRPG storytelling.

Wolfe Locke’s writing carries a steady rhythm, often born in the margins of his daily life. He has spoken openly about drafting scenes while waiting in hospital lobbies or fitting words into the small windows of a busy household. That persistence is part of what has drawn readers to him, not just the imaginative worlds but the sense of a writer who shows up consistently and refuses to let stories linger in endless hiatus.

Today, his books continue to find an audience among readers who want both the pulse of battle and the depth of character. Whether charting a hero’s rise in a gamified world or exploring the bonds that tether people together, his stories remind us that even in the most system-driven universes, humanity still matters most.
