Líadan is one of the last surviving phoenixes in the world. When the feared Morrígan discovers her and her brother's home, they're forced to run. Rescued from the initial attack by a meddlesome Fae lord, Líadan finds herself stranded in the Scottish moors at a halfway house run by retired Venatores Deorum. Reluctantly resigned to waiting for the Morrígan's hunters to lose interest, Líadan resolves to keep her true nature a secret until she can reunite with her brother.

After being devastatingly injured, Hadrian Holmes is medically retired from the Venatores Deorum.
