Her deadliest enemy is her own past…

Ex-assassin, Acid Vanilla, is struggling to cope after the brutal murder of her friend at the hands of Darius Duke. Knowing that Darius is still at large troubles her a great deal. Knowing he could be her brother troubles her even more.

As she grapples with this harrowing truth, her already strained relationship with her friend, Spook, reaches breaking point. Determined to fight by Acid's side against the ever-looming threat Spook wants to be trained in the deadly arts. But that way lies danger and Acid can’t risk losing another friend…

With Darius's deadly network expanding and his dangerous obsession with Acid intensifying, the stage is set for a deadly confrontation. Acid and Spook must navigate a treacherous world of secrets, lies, and betrayals to confront Darius.

But as a staggering revelation threatens to shatter their bond, Acid is forced to confront her darkest fears and make a choice that will change her life forever.

Will Acid and Spook be able to trust each other enough to survive? Or will the weight of betrayal finally pull them under?

Matthew Hattersley

Matthew Hattersley

Matthew Hattersley was born in Yorkshire, UK. Over the past twenty years he has toured Europe in a rock and roll band, trained as a professional actor, and founded a theatre and media company.

He’s also had plenty of extremely boring jobs to help sustain his creative endeavours.

He is also the author of the new John Beckett series and the standalone novels Cookies and Double Bad Things.

He lives in Derbyshire, UK with his wife and daughter, and remains uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person.
