Whilst those two items might be considered some of the highlights of this anthology, much of the other material is similarly robust. 'The Killing Ground' introduced me to the writing of J G Ballard, who remains one of my most important authors; as well as M. John Harrison, Hilary Bailey, John Clute and Christopher Priest all of whom I have followed to varying degrees. Michael Moorcock I was already familiar with, and in a few short years I was to become a devoted fan of the chronicles of Jerry Cornelius.

As an introduction to the British 'New Wave' SF of the 60s and 70s this anthology is a useful starting point.
