I write speculative fiction with one foot in science fiction and the other somewhere a little harder to define.
Aurelya began as a story about contact between worlds, but over time it became more interested in people than in the mechanics of getting from one place to another. Connection and Two Worlds are the first steps into that universe. These are only the first steps into Aurelya. The story continues beyond them, and the next books are already well underway.
My professional background is in electrical engineering, training, and technical writing, which probably explains why I tend to poke at fictional systems until they make some kind of sense. Still, fiction should be allowed a little mystery. Three moons do not always need a technical appendix.
Music has travelled alongside the writing for years, sometimes quietly and sometimes much less so, without ever feeling the need to stay within a single genre.
I am drawn to stories where the world feels larger than the plot, where characters are allowed to be complicated, and where kindness is not treated as weakness. I like quiet moments, unexpected connections, and places that feel as though they existed before the first page and will still be there after the last.
Aurelya is very much that kind of place for me.
