Simulacron-3
Simulacron-3 is also known as Simulacron Three and Counterfeit World.
Daniel F. Galouye's 1964 novel of virtual reality, time travel and murder in a synthetic 1937 "New Orleans" brilliantly anticipates science fiction's cyberpunks, who were to come decades later. It was the basis of the 1994 film The Thirteenth Floor which itself anticipated The Matrix. Galouye, a combat pilot, always lived in New Orleans.
