City of Mummies was first published in Amazing Stories (March 1941). The remaining novellas also ran in Amazing Stories for June, August and October 1941 respectively. The first hardcover edition was published by ERB, Inc Tarzana, March 26, 1948. The dust jacket and five interiors were done by John Coleman Burroughs.
Four linked novellas in which John Carter discovers lost cities and takes part in gladiatorial games while his granddaughter, Llana, toys with the affections of Pan Dan Chee.
