Terran Military Master Sergeant Sage is no longer hunting the war. The war is coming to him.

Terran Military Master Sergeant Frank Sage has been sidelined during the Phrenorian War after being grievously wounded. He gets lateraled into a First Sergeant position at the planet Makaum, known as the Green Hell because of its unending jungles and predatory insect and reptile life.

Control over Makaum is being fought out by the Terrans, the Phrenorians, and the (ta)Klar for the resources the planet offers. The war with the Phrenorians has spilled over, and now Makaum may become a major supply point for the enemy — unless Sage can stop Phrenorian officers from staking claim on the planet while he also fights against Terran drug cartels, corruption within his ranks, and a civil war brewing on Makaum.
