What is the price of eternal life?

As Katie Kishida's husband, Tom, lay dying in the wake of a helicopter accident, she made the decision that she would not let him go. Instead, she turned to the new discipline of cryonics to suspend his body and soul in liquid nitrogen, in the belief that science would someday find a way to resurrect them both.

But during Tom's long, frozen sleep, Katie finds her life and emotions are also being held in suspension while the world around her moves on. Katie faces the opposition of her family - and of a government moving toward banning all life-extension experiments or treatments.

As scientists find their work criminalized, Katie herself will become a fugitive. Nothing will stop her from going to Tom in the South American mountain fortress where his body is hidden. Nothing can prevent her from using the cure that she has spent fortunes to obtain. But several questions haunt Katie: Who - and what - will she find if Tom at last awakens? And what price will they pay for her determination to cheat death?
