Exile
WELCOME TO ANA
On the day that I met the traitor, my name was Meer Fastet— Meer, son of Fas, unblessed. I was a young man of the outer rings of Ana, and my world on that day was limited to the long houses, the work circles, and the streets. On the day that I met the traitor, his name was Kedar Nanchen— Kedar, son of Nan, honored by a woman. He was a man of the central city, his world the world of the high bank, the honor school, and the hierarchy. Kedar was not yet a traitor. That would come later, after we became friends, after the world changed.
On his deathbed Kedar Nan desires one thing only: that Meer collect him from the wasteland beyond Ana's boundaries and reunite his body with the body of Ana. It is a task that forces Meer to confront a burden of guilt he has borne for decades.
