Storm of Locusts
Kai and Caleb Goodacre have been kidnapped just as rumors of a cult sweeping across the reservation leads Maggie and Hastiin to investigate an outpost, and what they find there will challenge everything they’ve come to know in this action-packed sequel to Trail of Lightning.
The White Locust, a charismatic cult leader seems to have lured Kai and the Goodacre twins youngest brother Caleb to his group of insurgents. As Maggie, Clive, and Rissa prepare to track this group — and rescue Kai and Caleb — doubt begins to creep in about Kai’s involvement in the cult. Maggie still believes in him, despite the evidence that makes him look highly suspicious and the fact that they haven’t spoken since he nearly died.
Along the way Maggie becomes the leader of “a girl gang,” although she remains the crazy one, with Rissa and Hastiin’s teenage niece, Ben, who resembles Maggie a bit too much for comfort. Fighting off human traffickers and cultists, Maggie finds Kai, and discovers the White Locust’s plans, which could destroy Dinétah for good.
